Sun Ranch Institute (SRI) develops viable ways to maintain healthy land that preserve the Intermountain West, its lifestyles, and wildlife.

The American West and particularly its ranchlands are under tremendous pressure from real estate development and changing economic environments. The Institute aims to use these forces to protect and enhance ecological and human communities.

We work with large ranches in ecologically sensitive areas as they diversify their businesses to incorporate tourism, limited real estate development, ecosystem services, and other income streams. SRI provides land conservation and restoration guidance, community outreach and education programs, blended value management consulting, and long-term ecological monitoring.

Vision and Mission

Sun Ranch Institute (SRI) transforms management of the American West's assets to maximize blended value. SRI improves land health based on scientific inquiry, ecological monitoring, and management science. It creates social value, engaging its communities and playing an active, positive role in them. The Institute helps other enterprises create blended value by providing management tools and cutting edge intellectual capital.
