SRI complements and strengthens other community groups helping to solve common problems.
A lean organization, SRI often convenes with other organizations working toward complementary goals. Rather than reinvent existing programs that might duplicate the work of other organizations, we develop partnerships that help them address community concerns more effectively. Supporting community capital-the formal and informal institutions through which communities address common concerns-typically means supporting existing organizations and initiatives rather than inventing new ones.
Work with universities and noted conservation organizations adds both depth and integrity to our Science and Conservation Program. Furthermore, our Monitoring and Metrics initiatives depend on the guidance and peer-review of conservation partners to enhance the integrity of our data, methodologies, and analyses.
We make SRI's access to scientifically and aesthetically valued private property available to community groups whenever possible. We regularly open properties to educators and youth programs that bring students of all levels to the ranches. Similarly, we help our partner ranches give access to community organizations, which have hosted fundraising events, planning retreats, community-service days, and other events on the properties.
In most areas of the Institute's work-from land planning to livestock-predator coexistence-SRI depends on the collaboration and input of our partners. Please see our Featured Partner section below and the Friends and Partners section of our website for a more complete list of organizations with which we work.
